Avebury Stone Circle

Was fortunate enough to be taken to one of the largest prehistoric henges in Britain a couple of days ago on the eve of the full moon (thanks Craig!). Avebury stone circle is over 4000 years old and is a designated world heritage site and forms one of the most complex prehistoric complexes in Europe. With long barrows, burial mounds and of course lots of massive stones!

Unfortunately alot of it has been destroyed by building and farming in the area and even now the main road passes right thru the circle and the little town is located in the centre.

Even though, the importance and power of such a huge scale of a place can still be felt and some of the stones have been restored to their former glory.

A very yummy day.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Here are some pics from my recent visit to Edinburgh Scotland where i performed as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Vaudeville Cabaret Club.

Was really happy with the show response and it was a great opportunity to put some new routines together.

Had a bit of a sponge bath on stage (discreetly of course) then dried off and got 'dressed' for the show

Managed to see some other great acts from all over the world also.

Autumn is coming.....

Autumn is coming and it is time to start thinking about wool, do you spin, hand spinning is easy. Collect some fleece or buy some from Wingham Wools it's very cheap you can then dye the fleece by using simple plants like blackberrys or elderberrys, then you can felt it, or spin it and knit, and crochet. I buy old pure wool jackets from the jumble sales, cut them up, put them on a boil wash in a net bag, they shrink, you dye them, then make bags, cushions, wraps. What about crochet work. buy pet blankets make sure they are wool then dye those, they look much better. Look at the hedgerows, look at the colours, use nature as your colour pallette, you cannot go wrong........

We are all so lucky

I was thinking today how wonderful and supportive all you bloggers out there are being. I have only been blogging for a few weeks, yet, I have received such kind comments and lots of visitors to Sea Angels.
Since leaving university last year I have missed being with my friends a great deal. We all supported each others work throughout our textile course and we had fun at the same time, we got stressed and cried, but we got the work done and then we graduated..... but now we have all split up, we are still in touch but not every day so it has been a quiet and strange year up till now........but now I have started my blog, and all of you great bloggers have started to introduce yourselves things are looking so much brighter..... so here is a big thankyou to all you creative lovley generous bloggers, thankyou for being out there, and being so positive and kind with each other, you know things don't seem quite as lonely any more xxx

Maybe I should just sew them instead.......

I have just been to the charity shop, and I bought a super linen cloth printed with a really faded pattern, this has made a nice background for my cakes and tea time stuff, I think I will add a quirky teapot and some cups and saucers.

Trials of cooking.....

I do try, truly I do..... my merangues are so huge it will take a week to get my blood sugars back to normal after one of these, and my little lemon drizzle hearts are not even heart shaped. I cook on an Aga it's great for everything but I find cakes a real challenge, if anyone has any tips, please take sympathy on me and hand them over.....quickly xxxxx

Late summer colours.....

Don't you just adore late summer, today I noticed that the crab apples are ripening ready to make jam, and that the lovely Rowan trees are lush and red. The blackberrys are juicy, ripe and sweet and wild plums threaten to topple the tree's over, down by the river. All is as it should be.....the rain has stopped and the ground smells sweet, damp and perfumed. Enjoy xxx

This is a small area in my bathroom, I like to collect bits and pieces from car boots in the summer, I love playing about with them.

Welcome to my home.......

As you can see all the paint has been stripped of all of the woodwork, this took us ages, and I think will take us forever to finish. Our house is fairly old, Georgian and we bought it in a poor state of repair, so we are forever renovating it, we have tons of damp and the roof leaks but as I am a pisces thats ok............
