Is this creepy or....creepy???

From the pages of Vogue Paris model Daria Werbowy looks as if she's in the happiest fight of her life in the middle of the desert with a middle eastern man. Fashion spreads have loads of symbolism behind them (I'm still in deep thought about what this could mean) but sometimes the line is crossed between symbolic and coo-coo land. I think the sneaky smile on his face scares me the most. This is just weird.

A Whole New Look For Spring

The days of stepping into spring with pastel and floral expectations are long gone. Designers are doing away with the seasonal clichés and opting for a darker approach. Andrew Gn tossed full bloom to the way side in exchange for all black and white and shades of jewel tones. Chloe was cool as always in nude, khaki and creams. And Celine (my favorite) was ultra-chic in tan, black and olive green leather separates.

The graduation from baby doll dresses and liberty prints is one I can appreciate. Although I will always wear full skirts because they suit my shape well, the pressure of lightening up for spring and adopting a cute little pale pink cardigan is now obsolete.

Don't get me wrong, my recent move to the big apple hasn't sucked out the desire to smile and enjoy colors other than black, but who wants to be predictable? Designers may have taken to heart the phrase "Flowers for spring...shocking" from the sarcastic Miranda Pressly.

Not all designers have gone to the dark side, so if you're adamant about staying with tradition stop shaking in your boots. Color on most people is beautiful, but I'm enjoying the change.

TODAYSGOLD ONE WORLD ONE HEART GIVEAWAY

Photobucket
ONE WORLD ONE HEART ~ KINDRED SPIRITS COMING TOGETHER

Lisa Swifka a whimsical Bohemian, artist, storyteller & dreamer is the creator & host of this event. In 2007 the original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world. It closes the gap of the blog community & enables one to interact, discover new & wonderful people & in the process possibly win a prize(s). OWOH is really about finding kindred spirits.

This is an INTERNATIONAL event, it transcends geographical location, socio-economics, political affiliation & religious beliefs. Generating a closer community between humans through blogging.

Think of this as taking a giant tour of homes. You get to stop in, look around, meet the people who live there, admire & be inspired & before you go on to the next one you leave a comment with your name & you just might win a door prize too!

TODAYSGOLD ONE WORLD ONE HEART GIVEAWAY

THE VINTAGE FORBIDDEN PLANET 1967 POSTCARD
FEATURING ALTAIRA & ROBBY THE ROBOT
VALUED AT $25.00 ~ $35.00

Three lucky winners will be receiving one Forbidden Planet Movie Promotional Postcard. This is a beautiful 1967 vintage postally unused oversized 5 3/4" x 4 1/8" divided back postcard. Featuring: Anne Francis as Altaira 'Alta' Morbius in her pretty micro mini gold sequin dress & the beloved Robby The Robot. Published by Postal Oscarcolor, S.A. ~ Hospitalet Barcelona with a wonderful publisher's mistake.

Anne Francis was a popular & beautiful star in her day, so was Mitzi Gaynor. Anne Francis starred in Forbidden Planet & is on front of this Forbidden Planet promotional postcard, not Mitzi. Yet Mitzi's name is credited on back for the beautiful Altaira on front of this Forbidden Planet postcard. When a celebrity photo card or postcard has the wrong name of the celebrity, this mistake increases the value. Not a miss-spelling, but a real publisher's error by assuming the celebrity is some other celebrity.

* VINTAGE in postcard collecting means AUTHENTIC & ORIGINAL to a specific date. Vintage sixties movie & TV postcards are VALUED AT $25.00 - $35.00 & greater depending on condition. I love collecting vintage postcards & this is one of my favorite movie postcards. This Forbidden Planet postcard is a beauty!!!

Will the Heel Ever Stylishly Fall?

Ladies I know I know...we love our heels, nothing can add an instant boost of confidence like a sky high platform or strappy number. But let me fast forward you from the feeling you have in the mirror in the morning to the feeling you have once lunch rolls around. Not feeling so confident limping around right? Well what shall we do? Men obviously don't realize our pain (hence Christian Louboutin cranking out toe crunchers) and we just can't spend the rest of our lives being bored in flats.

The great mystery is can designers stylishly bring down the heel height without losing any of the appeal? I've seen plenty of lower inch heels that frankly...I wouldn't even consider taking the trash out in. All the sensible shoes look like they're designated for nannies and school teachers! Designers, us stylish girls are begging for a break! I can't wear my flat boots everyday, and I don't prefer flats in this type of weather. Hear us out!

All ladies lets touch and agree. Amen.

Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2010

The weather channel shows no sign of spring in sight, but yet-in-still our beloved designers are working their butts off in preparation for New York Fashion Week, happening next month in Bryant Park. Style.com has some treats for us who can't wait a month for the models to prance down the runway...pre-fall 2010 looks from a select few lines ranging from Vuitton to Rag and Bone.

While breezing through the collections, this look stopped me dead in my tracks and I hope the fall trends lean towards this silhouette. Capes are great winter alternatives and this one is definitely more stylish with its graphic pattern, front buckles, and of course the LV logo.

The hint of peek-a-boo thigh and ankle strap heels make this entire look adorable! Seriously I don't want to show your any other look, so if you want to see them...go look for yourself, lol.

I can't wait to see what fashion week has in store for us.

The days turn towards the light.....

Embroidery on organdie

Felting on chiffon reflections

A Winter Robe for a babys naming...

more reflections

Waxed lace......

There is a pleasure in the pathless wood
There is a rapture in the lonley shore
There is society where none intrudes
By the deep sea, and Music in its roar.
I love not man the less, but nature more.

Lord Byron

I feel the heart of Winter creeping into my work it shows in the tiny babys robe I have nearly finished, made of soft vintage velvet felted and pleated with tiny diamonte and  vintage lace and chiffon I have spent hours embroidering.... a gift for a lovely friend
I see ice crystals and snow falling and want to capture the essence of nature in everything I do.
