On Trend with REGARD Magazine .... Ask our Stylist

The Holidays are upon us and we have received hundreds of questions about what to wear for different occasions this season. Tweet or Facebook us your questions, and it just might be turned into our next blog!

Dear REGARD Stylist,
I waited until the last minute and have a ton of shopping to do for my family and friends. I need to be comfortable for all the running around I will be doing, but I also want to look cute. What is the best way to be in style but still retain comfort for my outing to the mall that promises long hours?   Nicole, Los Angeles, Ca

Dear Nicole,
Your fashion dilemma has an easy fix. Follow along with me and let’s put your outfit together:

Start with your favorite pair of jeans. The wide leg roomy ones are perfect because they won’t be too tight even after hours of shopping.

On top of your jeans, your favorite t-shirt is a great choice. Logo or not, it’s most likely soft and worn in from the many times you have washed it.

Then add your best flats; the ones that are already broken in, and are comfortable enough to walk in all day.

Use these easy basics as your foundation.

Layering is the best thing you can do for long shopping trips. The hustle and bustle of the season ensures lots of people in your same situation hitting the mall.

A word of wisdom, don’t take your coat or heavy jacket into the mall or store. It will only weigh you down as your shopping excursion goes on. Lots of people + lots of movement = plenty of body heat.

Thin layers do best, as they are easy to remove if necessary.

A thin sweater over you t-shirt and a scarf will add color, texture, and depth to an otherwise very basic outfit.

Finally, a few light accessories will complete the look. Please note that unnecessary jewelry can be a nuisance during your shopping trip.

A watch is a practical addition to this outfit, as it will allow you keep track of the time as you venture out and do you holiday shopping. A stylish version will also be decorative, as opposed to bracelets.

A small purse with a long strap will be a great asset. Wearing it cross body style will allow for hands-free shopping and easy access to your purchases.

There you have it, a comfy, yet chic look that is definitely worthy of any long shopping trip. Hope this helps!
