On Trend with REGARD Magazine .... The Peplum

Kelsey Chow looks very fashion forward, in a white peplum skirt by Backstage, featured in this month’s issue. The trend that was all the rage at this past fall 2011 at NYFW: the peplum. The retro shape is nothing more than a hip-rounding overskirt that can be affixed to jackets, dresses and skirts. It sits above the hips and is generally attached to a fitted jacket or pencil skirt like an over skirt or ruffle.

When the tailoring fits just right, this can be a flattering option that’s right on trend and uber chic. The peplum on skirts, dresses and jackets can be seen on high end runways like Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, and Badgley Mischka, as well as more modern and moderately priced Alice+Olivia, Derek Lam, Club Monaco.   Here are three looks with peplum detail for your inspiration.  Have fun!
