Mademoiselle: Coco Chanel Summer '62

Karl Lagerfeld recently published, with Gerhard Steidl an amazing book on Coco Chanel's summer '62 collection. Photographer, Douglas Kirkland made the book come to life. Karl speaks so highly of her, which is expected.

"The summer of '62 was her last summer as the queen of fashion. Jeans and miniskirts were on their way to invade the world. Hating them and letting people know publicly how much she loathed the fashions to come she put herself instantly in the postition of the has-been oracle of style and fashion."

Karl also dispelled the rumors of Alber Elbaz replacing him at Chanel by simply saying "I will die here."

You heard the man...the legend.

♥ COCO

IT'S STILL NOT TOO LATE! You can still catch the excellent excellent Lifetime movie about the great CoCo Chanel and how she came to be. I have already watched it twice and they have an encore presentation airing tonight at 8pm. Chanel is truly an inspiration to everyone in love with fashion and her presence is still felt to this day. Watching this movie made me realize what big shoes Karl is filling...and he's doing a great job I might add.

So clear your schedule for tonight (flick back and forth between Gossip Girl if you have to...The Hills you can watch online) and get a little piece of fashion history.

"Coco avant Chanel"

Production for the biopic of the life of CoCo Chanel has begun and I can't wait until it hits the big screen! Well first I have to see SATC(May 30th!). Film actress, Audrey Tautou will play Chanel in the movie entitled Coco avant Chanel. Tautou has already made a name for herself on the big screen with chart toppers such as Amélie and the film version of the best selling novel The Da Vinci Code. She has also dabbled in a little of the fashion side of Chanel already by recently replacing Nicole Kidman as spokesperson for Chanel No. 5. The ad isn't set to hit until 09 so we'll be waiting a while on that. Anyways, I think that Tautou is a great person lead the film and portray such a legend in the fashion world. With her awesome performance in Amélie I can see where they go the idea to use her. She is a Frenchwoman and that's enough said. It only makes sense. I'm soooo glad they didn't follow through with their first choice(I hope Demi isn't reading this..oops!). Well this is all the info I know on the movie so far. I promise to keep you all updated, k? Until then, why don't you do some research on Chanel so you'll be ahead of everyone else in the movie theater that night! ;)
