Leather is in. Tough. If you don't own a leather jacket this season you must have just waken up from under your rock. Almost every Spring 2010 runway had leather in their collection. Now, most of us are unable to spend our life savings on a pair of leather gloves, so I found a dope little spot located in NY (of all places) that will help ease your leather craving.
Screaming Mimi’s is a dope vintage spot in downtown New York (382 Lafayette St., NYC) and has been around since the late seventies. Well the vintage shop is now releasing an all-leather archive this month, in dedication to the trend report. You can find pieces like the studded, slogan-bearing motorcycle jacket at right. Keep your fingers crossed for a thigh-high leather dress. Their accessories, which range from gauntlet gloves to biker caps are must-haves for the winter.
The collection exhibits the intricate workmanship of custom leather specialists in New York and San Francisco who have come together to make some pretty cool leather goods.
The pieces debut November 18, with prices ranging from $125 to $2,800. Check the rest of the store, here. www.screamingmimis.com
