So, I Gave In

At first, I was so not going to post these pictures of Amber Rose covered in Elle Magazine, but then I thought about our lovely readers and some of you all might be Rose stans.

Now, don't get me wrong. Amber is dope. Just not Elle material. It's sorta like mixing Lil Mama with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys...and we all see how that turned out.

Sky Scraping

This Elle Romania Magazine spread shot by Giuliano Bekor feels like walking on the clouds. The dreamy backdrop sets off the bold graphics, bright hues, and dramatic shapes of the clothes. Although "Glamourama" is the only word I understand in the whole spread...the clothes have no language barriers!

Gorgeous!

A New September

If you weren't too familiar with the inside work of fashion magazines, here's a little insight.

Fashion mags usually make a bulk of their ad revenues in their September issues. For example Vogue made 23% of its ad bookings in last year's September issue and Elle made 16% of its. This has always been the case and there was never an expected change...until an UNexpected recession hit. So things are going a little different this September, and it's already starting to look 'not-so-good'.

Elle's ad pages have dropped 21% as compared to September 2008. This is a slight improvement from March's 28% drop.

September ad pages over at Essence are down 16.1% since last year. March was down 30%.

Harper's Bazaar - Ad pages might decline 23-26% this September as compared to last year. This is worse than March's 15% decline

And the fashion bible, Vogue, is among the ranks with ad pages being down 41% this September, worse than March's 25%. The discontinuation of Conde Nast's Fashion Rock supplement might have contributed to the decline.

I wonder how poor Anna is taking this... :-(

Miley Cuts...Not Slays

No shade everybody, but Miley is too young to slay...but she's cutting up in the August issue of Elle Magazine. I was thinking to myself, if you're 16 and can wear all the high end fashions like a pro and sell a womens magazine to women from around 18-40... youz a bad motha. Werk Miley!

Fox x Elle

Actress, Megan Fox is expanding beyond the big screen (Transformers) into the fashion world. Snagging the cover of Elle's June 09 issue does something for your career, if I do say so myself. There is even rumors that Fox might possibly be snagging the role of a younger Lara Croft in the prequel "Tomb Raider".

Sidebar - Her tattoo on her back is soo bomb. "We will all laugh at glided butterflies" (King Lear, Shakespeare)

So...I Need To Be On Here!

If anybody else reading this is an reality show freak like me, you'd all know about the upcoming reality show "Stylista". Eleven people compete against each other for an awesome editorial job with Elle magazine. I guess Anna wasn't having all that commotion at Vogue, huh? lol. Well Elle's Fashion News Director, Anne Slowey, wouldn't mind holding these aspiring fashionistas' future in her hands as they work as her assistants. It's almost like The Devil Wears Prada in real life. Now, I don't know how serious these kiddies are about this once in a lifetime opportunity but I will give up almost anything(except LivLux, lol) for this! Even though Elle isn't my favorite magazine, it's a step that will get you in the door to the fashion world. The best part about the the show is the grand prize; a paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on a great apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M valued at $100,000, all for one year! The show premieres this fall on the CW network. Maybe I should try and sign up for Season 2, hmmm...
