On Trend with REGARD Magazine ....Ask our Stylist... Briefcases, etc.

Dear REGARD Stylist,
I have to admit that I carry a man purse. My girlfriend is appalled. What are some alternatives that I can throw all my necessities into, is cool, and that won’t be mistaken for a ladies purse?
Jeffry D., Los Angeles, CA

Dearest Jeff,
There are two main scenarios. Lots of men are either intimidated by bags opting to stuff their pockets with their wallet and wads of useless junk. Or, perhaps they don’t make the right choice in choosing one, and pick one that is a bit too feminine. Given that most guys carry around more stuff than they are often willing to admit, like phone, iPad, gym clothes, and reading materials, a good bag is a must have.

A messenger bag that is more narrow in width and short in length is a great all-purpose option. It’s sporty enough for a casual day at the park, but can also be worn cross body to the office.

A laptop briefcase style is a more professional looking bag. Look for a simple and sleek design with the majority of the compartments on the inside and not the outside.

Finally, if you have a mostly casual need for a bag, a hip backpack might be just what you need. Just be sure to pick one that is sophisticated looking. If it has skulls and crossbones, or it’s stitched with the name of a band you’ve liked since high school, consider it too juvenile.

There you have it; 3 great options that are cool and functional, but don’t have the girly, chick factor.

Good Luck!
