"So Ambitious" T-Shirt From BBC/Ice Cream

Everyone's early morning motivation song, "So Ambitious" from Jay-Z's the Blueprint III, has now taken on a new life. BBC/ Ice Cream will be releasing the black "So Ambitious" t-shirt at their NYC Flagship Store today at 11am (and online at noon). Mark Your Calenders...

...for one of the most creative events to spark Spring Fashion Week in New York. On September 10, which is also the first night of Spring 2010 Fashion Week, stores and boutiques across the five boroughs of New York and around the world will stay open until 11 p.m. and attract customers with fashion celebrity appearances, fashion shows and other dope happenings. NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already started announcing plans for the citywide event, which has been given the name "Fashion’s Night Out". He will engage in a press conference this afternoon along with a slew of big wig New York designers and retail heavyweights arrayed behind him. Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and NYC & Company will be the sponsors, so you know it's bound to be a hit. 40% of the proceeds from a Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt (which will be available in August) will go to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and donations of clothes - new and gently used - will go to HIV/AIDS charities. You can already expect participation from Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Phillip Lim, Coach, and many more. "Brooklyn, We Go Hard!"

When most people think of New York, they think of the many different styles that can be seen on the street. Well while there this past week, I must say there was ONE style that was EVERYWHERE when it came to males street style. We all know what I'm talking about, the "Levi skinny jeans x Nike Dunks x plaid button up x North Face jacket" style. One day, I took the subway to the famous Juniors Cheesecake restaurant and I promise, the closer we got to Fulton St. the more of these Levi saggin' guys were around. The thing I like so much about it is the way each person throws their own individual style with it. Some gimme matchy matchy, while others could give 2 f*cks if their shirt is the same hue of blue as their kicks. Either way, the style is dooope! I was even convinced to buy a pair of red Levi skinnies from Urban Outfitters. Pics soon...hehehe :-)

The Marc Jacobs Sweat Shop

Did you know there were sweat shops in Manhattan?? Me either, but I got to witness it first hand. Ok, ok, it's not what you think, but it was close enough. Me and my road dawg Tisa got on the good foot and strolled from Soho to West Village (longest walk ever) in search of the hidden treasure that is Marc by Marc Jacobs specialty store that offers really cheap Marc by Marc items. I had to find it, I told y'all I'm the princess of cheap next to Tyra, The Queen. Anywho, we got there, finally, and it was the teeniest tiniest store I ever saw, and please believe, you had to make a mad dash for whatever you had your eye on, and if you plan on going...be prepared to sweat! It was crazy! I turned into a New Yorker within the blink of an eye, pushing my way through, reaching over, and snatching what I needed before the next person got it. When going to a place like this, the strategy is to just pick up anything that you might like, and edit down your decisions later, otherwise you won't have anything in the size, color, or style you need. So after my editing, I ended up with this tote...

Simple and basic for everyday, probably will end up being a book bag (I despise school), cute right?? Well if your not into a tote, they had flip flops, shorts, purses, wallets, condoms, keychains, and tons of t-shirts. I can't wait to go back and sweat it out, lol.

Next time I'll meet the maker...Mr. Jacobs himself.

Taste like Can-day!

In a few weeks when I hit NYC this is one destination that I have to visit, Dylan's Candy Bar by Dylan Lauren, as in Ralph Lauren's daughter. The presentation is everything, and attracts kids and adults alike. This candy bar is something out of left field for a designers daughter, but not to negate clothes altogether, Dylan's Candy Bar is equipped with fun tanks, tees, shorts, and accessories to always keep you looking sweet! "I'll take a tank in a small, thank you."

They have locations in NY, Florida, and Texas, and for the luckiest of children(or adults) they have party rooms to host birthday party's and special events. Although it is sort of a bar that sells candy instead of drinks, Dylan also has an actual candy bar that comes in a multitude of flavors...dark chocolate, hazelnut, almond, s'mores, cookies and cream, and a few others. Ok, I'm making myself hungry.

Lamar James

Sean John? Check. K Swiss? Check. Roca Wear? Check. Model Lamar James has plenty of big names under his belt and has only just begun. After seeing his face a numerous amount of times in glossy magazines, I had no other choice but to contact him to see if he would give Liv Lux an exclusive interview. He was nice enough to fit us in his busy schedule, after finishing a Grey Goose commercial just last week...so ladies and gents, without further ado, Lamar James.


DW: What made you get into modeling?

LJ:I would always hear people tell me I should and one day when I was 19 and home livin in Kansas, I was driving home and I heard a commercial for Model Search America and I was only like 8 blocks from the location so I decided to stop. It was a local search just to send you to the big event in Kansas City. They let me go for free so I decided to go. If I would have had to pay the $500, I would have never went. I eventually got selected by 10 agents world wide and decided on NYC. I finished college and moved 16 days later without a single New York Visit.

DW: What are you most proud of thus far?

LJ:Im proud of what my family thinks of me and the strides that I have taken with shooting over 10 Campaigns and giving back to my community.





DW:What would you be doing if you weren't modeling?

LJ:I went to school for Graphic Design and Journalism so I eventually seen myself working for a magazine in New York. that was in my 5 year plan at the time. I wasn't ready for new york at that moment so its funny I ended up here 16 days after graduation.

DW: Do you think it's easier or harder for male models?

LJ:It is much harder as a male. Especially a black male. Women make so much more money and have way more opportunities than we do and white males have more opps than other minorities. Its a challenge every day. Im up for the challenge.





DW: What designer's would you love to work with?

LJ:I would love to work for Ralph Lauren and replace the only black male model that the world really knows; Tyson. I would love to be his successor. In a good way.

DW: What's the best and worst parts of the modeling world?

LJ:You never know what is next for you so you always have to be on the grind and hustlin. Also being type casted. Limits you to one genre. No one wants that.
