Just Do It!

Dunks, Air Max, Shox, and Air Jordans. Nike has built such a prestige and following around its brand that no matter who enters into the world of sportswear, Nike will be the one to beat. When I got word that a Nike designer would be less than an hour away (well close to 2 hours considering that we got lost) I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sit in on his presentation.

University of Wisconsin graphic design graduate, Jason Landis, got off to a slow start after graduation. After 2 years of barely scratching the surface in the design world, Landis became more serious about his chosen career field and really pounded the pavement and began to knock on the doors of design firms and creative directors.

Well good thing he did. After 4 years of freelancing and working for a newspaper in Portland, OR, Landis contracted with Nike for two years and has now been a permanent designer for 3 years. And he says the Nike campus in Beaverton, OR, with almost 6,000 employees reminds him of the positive atmosphere of college. Chill office environment, music of your choice, lenient deadlines, and no dress code…sounds like heaven with a pay check.

Due to our tardiness, C Nic, James of Closet Studio Design, and I, caught the tail end of a video included in the presentation. It showed graffiti artists in South America and how they risk their lives daily for the sake of their passion. Landis and crew took inspiration from these artists and the style of their art, and interpreted it into Nike designs. Inspiration is every where and he advised the artists in the room to keep a sketch pad around at all times.

Seeing that the room was full of wide eyed hopeful students, Landis informed us about internship opportunities available at Nikebiz.com/careers/internship. The internships are available in every area within Nike – design, marketing, finance, etc.—and he raved about the “Innovation Kitchen” where the interns go to cook up new fresh ideas to showcase their skills.

When the question and answers portion came around, I was reluctant to ask questions in fear that he’d already answered the question while we were speeding down I-275. But my curiosity outweighed my fear and my hand shot up…more than anyone else in the room. “Who initiates collaborations?” “Where did you graduate from?” “How did you finally break into the field?” What?? A girl needed to know! Luckily Landis was really down to earth and willing to answer as many questions that came to mind.

After the presentation was over and the Michigan Institute of Art staff said their piece, we chatted more with the designer. Seeming like just one of the guys, Landis made working for Nike appear accessible to all of us. Refine, Edit, and Repeat is a motto Nike bases its company around. Refine your talent, Edit the unnecessary, and Repeat your hits (not misses), and I’m sure a company like Nike will be within arms reach.

Liv Lux Nike Dunk?!...Maybe.

Muhahahaha!

Not into costumes? It's cool...just get a pair of Halloween inspired kicks from sneakerhead.com. Nike Dunks and Nike blazers have these pair that give you enough to get into the Halloween parties, without jeopardizing your cool factor.

Nike "Stinkween" Braata

Artists Madsteez and "Stink" teamed up to collaborate on a new Nike Braata. Glow in the dark, custom insoles, art bottoms...the works. They went all out. And I'm glad because normal Braata's are trash... to say the least.
Search for them at your local kick boutique.

To The Max....

Can we say LOVE??? These are so dope to me. I think loud colors are cool, but these muted color Nike Air Max with the classic "big window"air bubble are yummy ;-). Not much needed but a v-neck white tee and some shorts, or ladies a pair of skinny jeans.

...I can't stop looking at them, lol. Oh, and you can order these for 85 euros here. (you do the math yourself)

Nike...I love You!

So, I came across these...Gasped like somebody died...and C Nic looked at me like I was crazy! lol These literally stopped dead in my tracks. I mean, I really don't even want to post these because I just want to keep them to myself. But selfishness is not nice...so I guess I'll share :-/.

These were designed by Nancy Wu, a student at the Art Center College, for the Re-Mix & Re-Cut program for spring/summer 2009. Well, A+ Nancy...all the other students must be so jealous. You can pick up these Nike Gladiators at Colette.com for $110, but if you're a 7 1/2...back off! lol

I still have butterflies from these shoes ♥

Coming Soon...

...To my feet! I saw these shoes a few weeks ago at Burn Rubber in Royal Oak, MI and I could've cried when they didn't have my size. Luckily I found them hiding from me on UrbanOutfitters.com (if you even think about ordering a size 8, you're going on my hit list). So be on the look out for the Nike plaid Blazer low classics on yours truly. ;-)

Well.....in my opinion!

Alrighty, a little while back Christopher Nic posted a pic of this plaid shirt. When I saw it, I immediately knew the right kicks to match up with it!!! I didn't stop there, I even knew what hat I would use to set it off...lol. C Nic stated that he wouldn't look for a shoe with the light blue color in it because it stands out already. Well I agree, with loud colors you don't wanna do too much, But in this case I believe if something matches this well, you gotta jump on that s#!t!!

I matched it up with a Nike Blazer SB (:D), and a new era Baltimore Orioles fitted. In my opinion I feel that this would go SUPER hard! Although this combo would definitely crave attention, you could bet your bottom dollar that it would all be good! And like always, paired up with the right jean *cough* Levis 511's *cough*...lol, you'll be the flyest thing around! Check it out & lemme know what you think- $YD K3MP

Oops!!...my bad : /

Alright, I posted a picture of a sneaker that I thought was an upcoming Air Jordan. I was just informed that the actual name of this shoe is the Nike RT1 high. They are scheduled for release in April of this year. I managed to see a few other colorways and they are pretty dope! I think this particular shoe is aimed at the skateboarders....though be expecting to see the posers feet all in em!!..lol

Im sorry for the screw-up, But hey, were all entitled to a few mistakes!! Im still kinda new to this!..lol Be safe & Be fresh!! -$YD K3MP

Nike officially = Freshness!!!

Okay, anyone who knows me personally knows that I have a HUGE crush on Nike Blazers. At the point where I thought it was impossible for them to out-do themselves, they had to prove me wrong! And the way these babies look, wrong never felt sooo damn good!!..lol. The color combo is so effin dope! The brown/tan tweed pattern set off by the signature Nike volt (lime green) swoosh is almost too much to handle. I can think of sooo many outfit combos to match up with these beauties!!...OK ok lemme stop..back to the subject...lol. But seriously though, you can pick up a pair of these babies by clicking here. Check em out!!!

And ladies, don't worry I got you covered!! Earlier this month Nike issued a couple pair of womens Blazers that are 100% Bananas! Nike teamed up with UK based company Liberty (check em out here) to produce the Nike Blazer Liberty Fabric Pack. Liberty Retail sells an assortment of clothes, jewelry, and well...Fabrics! The two Blazer Hi Premiums use Liberty’s Phoebe and Nina patterns on the entire upper of the shoes. These are sure to make any girl wanna rock em!!! -$YD K3MP

Yet Another HOT Jordan!!

Okay, I just caught a glimpse of THE HOTTEST JORDANS OF THE YEAR!! Yea I said it!..lol. This shoe doesn't appear to be a fusion or any other type of hybrid Jordan, neither does it appear to be any sort of retro, although it bears a slight reseblance to the Air Jordan I . All I see in this shoe is 100%, uncut DOPE!!! Sources say that this shoe is a response to the (popular out of nowhere) Supra Skytop. In my personal opinion though, these babies ran 3 laps around the Supras before they even left the starting line! No official release date has been issued, as I'll do my best to keep you posted!!! One things for certain though, ...when they drop, They'll be on my feet!! Chech em out!!- $YD K3MP

My First Time!!!

Hey cool people! As you all may know this is my first entry for Liv Lux, so of course I had to cover a crisp pair of Air Jordans! JB (Jordan brand for the sneaker lingo impaired..lol) has had a lot of success with the Air Jordan x Air Force One Fusions, and by the looks of things they don't plan to slow down anytime soon! Next up to the fusion plate is the Air Jordan VI. This model should sell pretty well because of its EXTREME resemblance to its "father"..lol. They feature a suede upper and the classic Black/Varsity red colorway. I've gotten a sneak peek @ a few more colorways and all I can say is..."BANANAS". Im sure the sceptics will have a heck of a time with these babies, because like I say with any other Fusion..."you either love em or hate em!!". Check em out- $YD-K3MP
