Hopefully I am not the only one excited about the news that I am about to share with you all. For the FIRST time ever in Italian Vogue history, next months entire issue will be shot with only black models! Photographer, Steven Meisel came up with the idea so that they could urge other magazines to think about diversifying their pages.
I, personally, think it's a great idea and a huge step in Vogue Italia history...KUDOS! The Covergirl will be Jourdan Dunn, a model who has already made fashion history by being the first black model to walk Prada this past fashion week in Milan since Naomi Campbell in 1997. Just weeks ago, Dunn was witnessed speaking out about diversity and the lack thereof in London, saying;
"London's not a white city. So why should our catwalks be so white? . . . I don't see a change. It needs to be said because I think about these things and other girls do too..."
So true...
17 year old Dunn also plans on going back to school to get a degree in business so that she can start a agency for minorities. So make sure you pick up next months issue of Italian Vogue and see who else was used in the issue. I guarantee you wont be disappointed!
