Lupe Fiasco is soo close to taking Kanye West's spot as my #1 Hip-Hop Artist. Not only does this guy have flow for days, his style and sense of fashion isn't that bad either(reminding me a lot of Mr. West). I have been watching Lupe ever since "Kick, Push" came out. His new CD "The Cool" is a good look also. I enjoy his music, the style, and most importantly his lyrics. So many rappers now are too focused on money, cars, clothes and h*es that the forget to talk about the real stuff. That's another way he relates to Kanye. Even though he can seem similar to Kanye and Jay-Z in many ways I still think Lupe has his own individuality which makes him one of the hottest artist of 2008.
Lupe was nominated for numerous Grammies in 2007 for his first album "Food & Liquor" and hit single Kick Push. Finally in 2008 he won his first Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative Performance: Daydreamin'(featuring Jill Scott). He has given the Atlantic Records a great name and I don't think they'll be willing to give up this young man any time soon.
It's also been rumors of Lupe, Kanye and Pharrell starting a group called Child Rebel Soldier. If these 3 lyrical geniuses come together to do a project I will be the first one in line at the closest F.Y.E. No moves have been made so I am looking forward to hearing what's that all about! If you haven't copped "The Cool" I suggest you invest in it. NOW!
