Miss Michaela Songa has the passion for writing and film making. In fact it is her wish to produce a Hollywood caliber movie for the silver screen and there’s nothing stopping the 21-year old Liberian woman from achieving that goal.
A Print Journalist student, Miss Miss K, as she is affectionately called by friends and admirers has already written the scripts for “Touch of Evil”, an African movie currently being shot at locations in New Jersey and its adjacent areas.
Miss K’s ongoing movie project is expected to be a thriller in the African Diaspora community. “I have dreams and my first project, which I wrote, will be nothing short of the usual African movies ” Michaela boasts.
Fans will be thrilled to see Miss K’s upcoming flick entitled “Touch of Evil”, which is already in the work. However, the writer-producer confided in us that her project has been whittled down by financial woes.
“We have the committed students who are playing different roles in the movie. They have exceptional talents, but the low budget situation is seriously affecting our project.” Miss K quickly sent out an appeal to film makers and producers and other philanthropists to assist her achieves her dream.
“Touch of Evil” is just the start, according to Miss K. “We have bigger projects to come, but we need sponsors to help us reach the mountain top,” Macheala said.
The costumes, the shoes and the casts of multicultural talents have the magical portrayal of Africa’s true future stars in movie industry. Writer/producer star Macheala certainly is eyeing that line and she knows her audience: the young people, who will be eager to watch a movie produced by one of their kind.
The hotly awaited African film will become a huge success if the needed finances are available through donations. “This will be one of those African films you will relate to, because it portrays reality. You will also assess in terms of whom it's aiming to please. We know our audience has very specific tastes and needs.”
Miss K, who also wants to become one of Africa’s fashion icons in the coming years, is innovative and does get plenty of opportunities to display that side of her talent. “I have passion to model. I love the work of arts, but writing is my specialty right now. I want to make a different and also prove that women can also do better in the movie industry.”
“Touch of Evil” depicts a life of a woman being constantly abused by her male partner. “Everyone can relate to this story I’m sure you know someone who had been in an abusive relationship, and they don’t know what to do to get out. But there is always a way out. This story is not a personal experience, but I see it happened all the time to people that I care about.”
Overview of “Touch of Evil”
In "Touch of Evil", Janet is in love with Derrick, who beats and humiliates her in front her friend and make her feel like she is nothing all the time. Although he abuses her she doesn't seem to be leaving him as she tries to makes thing better by staying with him. But things only get worse.
Valerie is a friend who advices Janet to leave Derrick and find someone better but Janet insists that everything will be alright, only to find out that Derrick is cheating with one of her best friends. But will Janet find ways to leave Derrick? Will she take more abuses from him? Will she find true love? This movie is very exciting, entertaining and full of surprises and suspends.
This movie features casts from Nigerians, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Senegal and Haiti. The casts are college students age ranging from 19 to 23.
